Anyone who has researched affiliate marketing has come across one of these two companies, Legendary Marketer (LM) and Wealthy Affiliate (WA). I want to give you an honest assessment of the companies from my point of view. Full disclosure, I joined both of these companies within two days of each other. I am still with one and quit the other.
I was searching for a way to make a legitimate income from home. The internet is full of people selling opportunities to start your own online business. After much digging, I decided to give LM a try. What made me join LM was a youtube video Discussing how to generate leads online. Surprisingly, the guy doing the video seemed genuine, so I thought why not give it a try.
It just so happened that while I was searching for LM, I ran across a review of WA. After reading the review, I went to their website and was very intrigued by what I saw. I decided to at least sign-up and look around. I had no intention of staying with them because I was smitten by LM. What to do?
Sign up Process
The day I signed up for LM, I was excited. I really thought the youtube host was pointing me in the right direction. The sign-up process was very straightforward. They advertised a money back guarantee. For that reason, I felt very confident that I had nothing to lose.
To get on the site and start training, you have to purchase the membership. The cost of membership was $30 month. I thought this was a fantastic price to start my own business and get one on one training from a master marketer. All of the other businesses I investigated wanted thousands of dollars to get started. My LM Rating – 3.5 out 5 stars.
Wealthy Affiliate sign-up process was straightforward as well. They have a starter plan that’s free. The premium membership cost was $49 month, with the first month being $18 if you upgrade from the starter plan within 7 days of signing up. I was hesitant about signing up with WA because I had already paid the $30 month for LM. I ignored my hesitation and signed up anyway, knowing that I could just stay with the starter program an quit when LM started taking off. I appreciated that I could explore their system without pulling out my credit card. My WA Rating 4.0 out 5 stars.
Once I was signed up with LM getting started in the first training module was easy enough. The first phase of training was a 15 step training process. The first video was a welcome video. It introduced the CEO and founder of the company. I was pumped to get started on lesson two of phase one training.
When I finished lesson one, I clicked on my next lesson and it was locked. I could not understand what was going on until I noticed that steps 2-4 would be unlocked by my trainer. I had to book a call with my personal one on one coach to find out what my goals were and how I was planning to accomplish those goals. I was anxious to get rolling but I trusted their recommendation to talk to my coach before moving on. I set up a call to talk to my coach. I wanted to talk to her the next day, but the only available time was two days later. Now I wait. My LM Rating 3.0 out 5 stars.
It was at this time I stumbled upon WA. WA have two directions you can take your training. The one they suggest you start with is the online entrepreneur certification. The second is the affiliate boot camp. I followed their suggestion and started with the entrepreneur certification. While waiting on the call with LM, I immersed myself in WA training. It was very quickly that I realized I was going to learn everything I would need from the training I was receiving. The lessons were extremely easy to follow and they were just enough to keep you going forward and not too much to make you frustrated.
I knew immediately that I would make money with the entrepreneur training, however, I knew it would be a slow process. This was concerning because I needed money sooner than later. After a couple of days, I switched to the affiliate boot camp training. This training is geared to make money faster. Within the first few days, I had already made close to $50. You may be saying that’s not a lot, but if you have tried as many things as I have and never made a dime, you would understand why I was so happy. I found my wife and told her that I made $50! Hilarious! My WA Rating 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Two days had passed and finally, I was ready to talk to my coach. Some of the steam had gone out of my sail by now, but I was still excited to have someone hold my hand through the process. My coach expressed how happy she was to meet me and that if I needed her she was just a call away. She gave me homework. I was instructed to write out my goals and how much time I would devote to my business.
Right before she hung up she said she was unlocking the next four training classes. She also asked me how much money I had to invest in my business. I thought to myself, I had $30 to invest in my business. She informed me that we would save that conversation for the next call.
There were two things that bothered me. One was why was she only unlocking four courses and how much money would I need when I talked to her again. I didn’t have to wait until the next call to find out. I did some research and found out that LM upsell you to buy their personal classes. The price range from $1,000 -$10,000. Now, you don’t have to purchase the classes, but why wouldn’t you reveal that before I signed up for the $30. That left a bad taste in my mouth and I canceled a couple days later. My Rating 1.0 out of 5 stars.
Now, I am all in with WA. I’m currently training as a starter member. I’m looking at everything and getting familiar with the program. I quickly realize that this is what I have been looking for. The community in the live chat area at WA feels like a family. Anytime I would feel stuck or overwhelmed, I could go into the live chat and get encouraged. I would recommend anyone who is thinking about affiliate marketing or starting your own online business to go with WA. My Rating 5 out of 5 stars.
I know I will be able to bring my wife off of her job with WA. The future looks bright. I hope you learned something from this article. I would like to hear what your experience has been with either of these companies. Leave a comment below.
All the best,
